JetSetFit

When deciding to design for apple products its well known that they use a font called San Francisco in their products.

JetSetFit

Exercise app for career oriented people

JetSetFit is an exercise app providing users with simple hotel-room workouts and heart rate monitoring.

The app aims to help busy, career oriented people make their health a priority.

I was provided with a Persona, and content selection for each device.

I was tasked with forming the Information Architectures, User Scenarios and Flows, and designing Hi-Fidelity
protoypes for both devices.

The Process

In designing JetSetHit, I embraced a methodical approach rooted in design thinking. Design thinking is a problem-solving approach that
emphasizes empathy for users, and focuses on iterative, user centric solutions.

It typically consists of five stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, prototype, and test with an emphasis on continually revisiting and refining
solutions based on user feedback and needs.

The project adopts this particular approach and methodology. However, the persona and content for the solution had been
established prior to my involvement, and due to time constraints, testing was omitted. This represents the first iteration of the project.

🤷‍♂️ The problem

Career oriented/busy people have demanding schedules and
travels frequently. Maintaining a consistent fitness program is
challenging. These people are often to busy to gain knowledge
and create an exercise program for themselves.

The assignment provided me with the guidelines of what content was to be included in the digital solution. From this i created information architectures for both the mobile and the watch app.

Iphone

Content:

  • Search and find a suitable workout

  • Start the workout

  • Do the workout

  • Complete the workout (save details, time,
    calories, Heart rate ETC.

🥅 The Goal

JetSetFit´s goal is to empower career oriented/busy people by
providing necessary tools and knowledge for them to prioritize
their health without sacrificing Their career. Ultimately our goal will
be that their health increases and this will positively affect our
users career results.

Understanding the user

The assignment provided me a written description of the intended target user. To gain a deeper understanding and connect with this user, I created a visual User Persona,
which adds a human touch to the target user. This approach will guide me in making informed design decisions as the project progresses.

Content first approach

Information Architecture

Apple watch

Content:

  • View the workout name and expected duration in
    minutes.

  • Check the calories that will be burned.

  • See his resting heart rate over time (days, weeks,
    and months).

Prototyping

The content and the structure was clear, so i started designing wireframes in Figma. During the design process i always kept in mind the persona, and that this solution is ment for both watch and mobile screens

Interactive Mobile Prototype - Flow1: Finding, starting and doing a suitable chest workout suitable for hotel.

Interactive Mobile Prototype - Flow2: Check heart rate

Interactive watch Prototype - Flow1: Find a suitable chestworkout

Interactive wartch Prototype - Flow2: Check Heart rate

Takeaway

🎓What I learned

This was a short design process, that only had a time-range of 1 week. From this assignment i gained undestanding into designing a solution that will be used interchangeably on these two devices.

I also gained much insight into how smartwatches is used, and the functionality users want these devices to do. Additionally the making the right design choices when you are dealing with very little real estate. I quite enjoyed this process, and i was satisfied with the design, so its a bummer that the design did not get tested, and iterated.

💥Impact

Im a busy individual myself, but i have a foundational exercise mentality built over the years, where i have researched and found exercises to do, when im short on time. However, people that has not built this mentality caused by various of reasons needs help.
Their health matters as much as people like me.

I have always said; “Some exercise is better than none”. 30 minutes a day can do an enormous impact. Educating these people and giving them the tools they need to live a healthier life without sacrifising precious time from their career is huge.

Next steps

Test & iterate

Because this was not a real-life design solution, but an assignment in my UX education. Testing was not done, but following the “Design Thinking” approach, testing would be very beneficial. I would test the flows given in the User Flows. Emphasizing the navigational structure. I would also test readability and tappable objects for accessibility.

Android Version

For this assignment i decided to use Iphone and Apple watch screens to design for, but if this is going to be a viable digital solution, an android version of the app has to be designed.

Workout programmes

I would recommend gathering workout programs from professionals. Exercise experts can tailor a catalogue with many different workout routines for the target user.

Thanks!

Thank you so much for reviewing my work. As said before, this was not a real life case-study, but a school assignment. I recently graduated from the UX-design programme at Noroff Technical university.
